ABOUT OUR OWNER

Thirty-five years ago, Douglas Griffith entered the medical community when he graduated from Army Advanced Individual Training – Combat Medic Course and earned the EMT-B certificate. Douglas started his lifelong commitment to service to his country and others.
During undergraduate college at Samford University while on a track scholarship Douglas again affirmed his commitment to service by joining Alpha Phi Omega, a men’s service fraternity. Douglas continued to serve his country while in the US Army Reserves. It was during this time that Douglas attended Airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia and earned the coveted Ranger Tab, the premier combat leadership school in the Army.
After four years of college, Douglas moved to Tennessee to start his first of many businesses. A computer company focused on customer service, support and wholesaling computer parts and systems. Douglas opened a second service business to help clients recover funds from communication companies. Douglas was teaching at a small community college and serving in the Army Reserves.
In 1992, Douglas Griffith entered Army active duty and was stationed in Hohenfels, Germay. The first of several overseas assignments over the next fourteen years. After Germay Douglas volunteered for special operations forces with the 75th Ranger Regiment. Furthering his medical knowledge by becoming an EMT-P. Douglas was instramental in developing the Ranger First Responder Course for non-medical personnel, later adopted by the entire Army, still in use today. Douglas has been an instructor in BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, PHTLS, and ABLS. After service in Ranger Regiment Douglas was selected to the Interservice Physician Assistant Program in September 2000 and subsequently stationed in Korea. While in Korea, Douglas persued his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and Residency in Family Medicine. After Korea, Douglas attended the Army Flight Surgeon Course and completed the Residency in Aerospace Medcine. Douglas then volunteered to serve in the 82 Airborne Division, where he was assigned to the 2d Battaion, 504th
Infantry Regiment and deployed as the Battalion Physician Assistant to Afghanistan where he was in combat for fourteen months
and recieved the Combat Medical Badge and Bronze Star for his actions. In September 2006, after twenty years of service Douglas retired from the Army and went to the Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. Since, while living in Texas, Douglas has continuously worked in emergency medicine. While also working in family medicine, owned a commercial construction company, flipped houses, owned a business selling his hand-made pens, kitchen items, bottles stoppers and cutting boards. Douglas Griffith still lives in San Antonio and is a practicing Physician Assistant and the current Tresurer of the Bexar County Physician Assistant Society.
